Don’t Talk to Strangers

I heard the front door slam shut and ran down the stairs. I saw Shawn smiling up at me, my heart skipped a beat.

“What just happened?” I asked annoyed.

“There was a man at the door,” he responded.

“How many times do I have to tell you not to answer the door?”

“I’m sorry. He asked me to go with him and I said ‘No!’ and slammed the door, just like you said to do.”

I managed a smile and swept him off his feet. I approached the front window, peaked behind the curtain, seeing the man walk back to his car and pick up the radio. Letting go of the fabric, red and blue lights painted the window.

“Hey, do you fancy a road trip?”

“Yay!” he shouted as I bolted out the back door and sped off in my car.
